Welcome to Slips, Trips and Falls Training page 1 We are used to finding humor in watching someone slip, trip or fall. Clips of these incidents are regularly seen on television and are readily available on the internet. However, accidents such as these can be serious in the workplace. According to the National Safety Council, more emergency personnel responded to people who slipped, tripped or fell than any other accident. And, after automobile accidents, it was the second most common cause of death. The United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in 2005 there were 225,750 reported occupational injuries resulting from falls. Undoubtedly, hundreds, if not thousands, un-reported injuries occurred. Furthermore, falls made up 13% of all fatalities in the workplace in 2005. Many of the injuries resulted in fractures, sprains, and bruises and caused many hours of lost work time. Because of these national numbers, Risk Management and Safety wants to ensure employees understand the importance of preventing slips, trips and falls. This course will discuss the different types of falls and how to prevent them. To continue with this training, please click on Next Page below.
