Welcome to Lockout/Tagout Awareness Training
page 1
UNLV has a number of sources of energy. Each piece of equipment that contains a source of energy needs to be locked out or tagged out when maintenance or repair takes place. OSHA regulates the control of hazardous energy. This regulation is found in 29 CFR 1910.147.
The Lockout/Tagout Policy and Procedure at UNLV was created in response to the OSHA regulation and discusses how we deal with the control of hazardous energy on campus.
This online course is designed to give you only general information regarding equipment that has been locked out and/or tagged out. It is important to note that this awareness-level training does not permit you to apply or remove locks and/or tags.
If you are authorized to apply and remove locks and tags as part of your job duties or supervise someone who does, you will need to complete detailed classroom instruction on Lockout and Tagout for Authorized Users. This classroom-based training is offered on a regular basis. Please check the Safety Training Calendar for dates and times or contact Ben Fausett for more information.
