Welcome to Disaster Preparedness Training

page 1

The presentation you are about to view is an introduction to Disaster Preparedness. It is important to note that this presentation is not intended to answer all questions that will be asked if a true catastrophe were to occur. It is intended to present you with a scenario, present topics that will most definitely arise and give suggestions as to what may be done to solve the problems. This presentation is intended to get the ball rolling; to get you thinking about preparedness.

Throughout this 20-minute presentation are video clips from “Academic Aftershocks,” a video that interviews key administrators from California State University, Northridge about the problems they faced from the January 17, 1994 earthquake. These clips are used with permission from the Governor's Office of Emergency Service, the State of California and California State University, Hayward. The magnitude 6.7 earthquake caused damage to all 107 buildings on campus and forced the demolition of more than a half-million square feet of space.
