In 29 CFR 1910.134, OSHA requires that UNLV develop and implement a written respiratory protection program to protect the health of employees where respirator use is necessary to accomplish their job responsibilities.
Worksite specific procedures are required and contain the following elements to ensure workers are cleared, trained and prepared to use respirators.
- Annual medical evaluations
- Annual training (either online or in-classroom)
- Annual quantitative fit testing

Fit Testing
Fit testing for respirators worn by employees is performed at the Risk Management & Safety offices in the Campus Services Building, room 119. To request a fit test and recieve certification, or for more information about the steps needed to wear a respirator on campus, please contact John Tomola at (702) 895-4860.
