Chemical Inventory Management manages the receiving and inventory of chemicals on campus, as well as cataloging the associated risks from each chemical by obtaining the proper MSDS and generating NFPA door signs signifying hazards.

Holding responsibility over radiation-producing devices and materials on campus, the Radiation Safety Office provides authorization to users needing to work with radiation while working to keep them safe.

Training
The Safety Training program from Risk Management & Safety offers a comprehensive training program to ensure the safety and well-being of all UNLV employees. While most courses are available during new employee training and in-person, additional courses are offered on a regular basis through classrooms or at any time online.

Risk Management & Safety

In 29 CFR 1910.134, OSHA requires that UNLV develop and implement a written respiratory protection program to protect the health of employees where respirator use is necessary to accomplish their job responsibilities.

Worksite specific procedures are required and contain the following elements to ensure workers are cleared, trained and prepared to use respirators.

Annual medical evaluations
Annual training (either online or in-classroom)
Annual quantitative fit testing

Fit Testing

Fit testing for respirators worn by employees is performed at the Risk Management & Safety offices in the Campus Services Building, room 119. To request a fit test and recieve certification, or for more information about the steps needed to wear a respirator on campus, please contact John Tomola at (702) 895-4860.
