EVACUATION PROCEDURES

IIf an emergency requires the evacuation of a building(s) please adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Fire alarms will be used to sound evacuation situation. FAILURE TO EVACUATE IS UNLAWFUL.
  2. Remain calm and orderly. Walk quickly but DO NOT RUN to the nearest exit.
  3. Follow instructions of emergency personnel (i.e. Fire Fighters, EMT, URT, or Police)
  4. If persons with disabilities are in the area give assistance as needed. REFER TO SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR EVACUATION OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITES THAT ARE PROVIDED IN THIS DOCUMENT.
  5. Shut off all operational equipment, secure any experiments and turn off lights and shut door as you leave.
  6. DO NOT USE ELEVATORS.
  7. Move a minimum of 150 feet from the building and assemble in the closest open area. Keep roadways and walkways CLEAR for emergency vehicles and workers. Stay in the area until otherwise instructed differently.
  8. DO NOT RE-ENTER THE BUILDING UNTIL YOU ARE TOLD TO DO SO BY UNIVERISTY STAFF

The time to become familiar with emergency procedures is BEFORE an emergency situation occurs.
